With a young filly names Gypsy, Rachelle Valentine began her love affair with horses. Since her first unstarted 2 year old, she immediately stepped into the role of trainer. With a mixture of struggles and laughter, an incredible partnership was formed. During this Michigan childhood, she dreamed of a life in the saddle. Upon high school graduation, she jump-started her career working as an intern with Clinton Anderson. Soon after, she stepped into a position with Deon Locke.
Preparing young, talented prospects for NRHA competitions, she developed new skills and grew as a horsewoman. Focusing on started colts under saddle and preparing their early reining maneuvers, she would hand off horses she was very proud of to Dean Locke. Her mental and physical toughness gave her the staying power to see these colts through the early challenging stages. With each passing colt came a newfound confidence.
After a short hiatus from the training world, Rachelle attended post-secondary schooling, gaining her degree in Utah. She met and married Josh Valentine, and moved to Florida as he finished his graduate degree. During that time, a new member of the family came along; a baby boy they named Coda.
After relocating to central Florida, Rachelle began looking for places to ride. So impressed with her god-given ability with horses, Sean Patrick offered her an assistant position with him. Now, an associate trainer with Sean’s business, Rachelle rides youngsters, reining and hunt-seat prospects as well as a variety of others. She is a wonderful compliment to the teaching clinics and offers one-on-one lesson times from Pioneer Trail Reserve in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
“I am completely shocked and honored to be invited to Road to the Horse 2017! This is such a special year to be a part of the event in Lexington, as the equine community celebrates the cowgirl. My intense preparation now begins!” Rachelle Valentine.
