Barbara Cox was destined to become a cowgirl! Growing up in the Central Coast of California, Barbara was influenced by generations of great horsemen and women. Her grandfather C.W. Adams was a two-time National Intercollegiate Bull Riding champion; her mother and father rode all their lives and even competed in team roping together, so it was no surprise that Barbara began competing in 4-H and junior rodeos at an early age. She showed great talent and success, winning many junior rodeo championship buckles and saddles. In high school rodeo, Barbara was a consistent winner and state finalist in Breakaway Calf Roping and Goat Tying, and was named MVP of the 2001 Rodeo Team.
Barbara’s desire to grow as a horsewoman and improve her horsemanship skills led her to Chris Cox Horsemanship. Chris Cox is one of the worlds’ greatest horsemen, a 4-time Road to the Horse Champion.
Chris and Barbara shared a passion for horses and horsemanship. They quickly fell in love and got married in Texas….and the next chapter of Barbara’s life began.
For the past decade, Barbara has traveled with Chris as he has conducted seminars across the US and around the world – building riders confidence and communication with their equine partners. She says, “I continue to be amazed at Chris’ relationship with horses and his ability to bring out the best in both horses and riders, I learn every day”.
Barbara continues to work on her horsemanship and has put her skills to use on the horses she competes on. She still enjoys breakaway calf roping and team roping, but has found a new passion – Reined Cow Horse. She recently finished 7th in the NRCHA non-pro limited World Championships.
Of all her achievements, Barbara is the most proud of their children – daughter Charley and son Case. Chris and Barbara enjoy passing on their love of horses, living the western lifestyle, and Christian values to their next generation. Fans at Chris Cox Horsemanship Clinics love seeing the riding skills Charley and Case exhibit.
Barbara Cox is living a cowgirl dream – a great horsewoman, mother, and wife. Learn more at www.chris-cox.com.
