Road to the Horse Honors 2014 Wild Card Competitor with Judging Position

Road to the Horse honored Montana horseman and Wild Card competitor Jon Ensign with an official Road to the Horse 2014 judging position when his 6666 Ranch bred American Quarter Horse gelding had to leave the competition. Road to the Horse has always had a huge passion for the horse and always, without question makes decisions based on what is best for every horse involved in the competition, so when Road to the Horse Owner and Producer Tootie Bland heard the news regarding Playboys Sense, Bland's first priority was to the horse.

"I am so excited to bring the very first Wild Card competition to Road to the Horse in 2014 but after veterinary examination, it was decided that Playboy's Sense should be removed from the competition, due to an injury he had sustained while turned out, Bland explains. "Jon Ensign was so impressed with this talented colt that he will retain ownership and continue his training, after he has rested him in his beautiful pastures in Montana."

Road to the Horse Wild Card Competition turns
world championship dreams into reality.

March 15, 2013 the eight chosen WildCard trainers stepped onto the Alltech Arena floor beginning a year long journey to Road to the Horse. After a draw of cards the WildCard competitors each chose a 3 year old colt from the Road to the Horse 2013 AQHA Remuda from the 6666 Ranch. Returning home with their chosen colt each competitor has 1 year to prepare for a test of horsemanship that will yield one of the eight the opportunity of a lifetime.

At Road to the Horse 2014 the Wildcards will compete in a competition consisting of a ridden pattern and an obstacle course that will test their horsemanship and the partnership developed with their chosen horse from the 6666 Ranch. The Wild Card winner will be announced and then immediately step into a round pen to compete for the coveted 2014 Road to the Horse World Championship of Colt Starting title.

Join us as we follow their journey as they prepare their equine partner and themselves for Road to the Horse 2014.
